The Journey of Making and Selling Handmade Jewelry: Unveiling the Passion Within.
Embracing the World of Handmade Jewelry: From Freelance Design to Crafting my Own Path.
With an entrepreneurial mindset, I delved into the online realm almost a decades ago, running various websites and selling everything from custom-made T-shirts to freelance graphic design services. However, it was when I stumbled upon an opportunity to monetize my passion for creating handmade jewelry that I knew I had found my calling.
It all began when a friend of mine invited me to a bead store downtown. Unfamiliar with the concept of a “bead store,” I agreed to meet him, curious about what awaited me. As soon as I entered, I was captivated. The store stood as one of New York’s largest beaded jewelry shops. Inside, a world of gemstone beads, crystals, findings, and precious metals. I was in awe.
My friend shared how he uses the supplies to make his own prayer beads. However, my excitement stemmed from the realization that I could create my very own jewelry. After receiving a crash course from him and immersing myself in countless hours of DIY videos on YouTube, I embarked on my journey, starting with the creation of unique bracelets.
Today, I invite you to join me on this remarkable adventure as I share my experiences, tips, and insights on the world of handmade jewelry through my blog. Together, let’s explore the boundless possibilities and creativity that await in this extraordinary craft.

My first bracelet (2014)
A business is born!
A business is born from selling handmade jewelry
About a week later I sported this bracelet and it caught the eye of several co-workers. They complimented me and asked me where did I buy it from. I told them I made it and they was even more impressed. They asked me if I can make them one and I said “sure” (at a price of course). So, why I started making and selling handmade jewelry? I wanted to make a business out of selling my skill set to those that desired it. The rest as they say is history.

Creating beadsbydez website
Once word of mouth spread at the job I had built up inventory. I needed a platform for people to view my work so a website was only natural. But originally I first started off on etsy.com and instagram.
Selling handmade jewelry
Like most businesses that sell a product, sales were slow in the beginning but in time grew. Most of my sales my first 2 years came from repeated customers. Through trial and error I have perfected my craft and have found ways to monetize it which includes my e-book, my online course, and jewelry repair. My customer service is A plus! When you put your customers first you’ll be surprised how much that will effect your business.
